Scientific-research work of the student of 2 class a bad habit of school students

The choice of the topic of my research work is not accidental. A lot of guys from our class used to suck the handle, and sometimes biting a pencil. One of the lessons our teacher showed a pencil, which was his disciple almost half. But for me this situation is familiar. I decided to find out the cause of this bad habits and ways of dealing with it.

The relevance of this topic is difficult to overestimate. Throughout the history of human existence inherent in these or other bad habits, from which, despite the emergence of many modern technologies people were unable to get rid of.

Speaking of bad habits, primarily referring to Smoking, alcohol. However, their range of unpleasant actions is not exhaustive. The behavior of some children found Intrusive actions that the child performs unconsciously, and they produce a rather unpleasant impression. It — the habit to pull hair or ear lobe, stoop, shuffling their feet when walking, to fidget on the chair, too gesture, grabbing the interlocutor for a sleeve or a button, pick your nose, to use the words-parasites, etc. (see Annex 1, the results of the survey children)

I will consider only this kind of habit like sucking subjects younger students.

Defining methods for breaking the habit

The object of study: the totality of social relations which are the environment of existence and the bad habits.

Subject of research – sucking subjects younger students.

Period of study : December 2011. – March 2012.

The main part

The concept of “habit” and reasons for its occurrence in children.

Thus, a habit is a behaviour, a way of action, a tendency that has become normal for a person, a constant in my life.

Conventionally habits can be divided into good and bad (harmful). Bad habits are those that on the one hand, are harmful to the health of the person (Smoking, drinking, drug use, etc.) with other – cause hostile, and sometimes squeamish attitude of others to committed action.

Two-thirds of Russians recognize that they have one or two or more bad habits. As shown by the all-Russian poll, bad habits have 78% of Russians. The most common bad habit – Smoking (72%). Nail biting, pencil or pen 79% of Russians believe a bad habit, it has 18-20% of the population. Meanwhile, 63% of Russians, if a bad habit is harmless and does not interfere with others, it is not necessary to get rid of.

Bad habits of children – Intrusive actions that adversely affect the child’s behavior, his mental and physical development.

The most common bad habits of children are:

sucking fingers

biting nails, pencils, pens, foreign objects;

when you pick your nose;

to deceive their peers and elders;

to take other people’s stuff;

to be dependent on the mobile phone, television and computer;

Smoking, drinking, using drugs.

In which I conduct the survey was attended by 30 students of the second classes and 20 students at grade our school and their parents – 33. (Annex 1, Questionnaire). I have found that younger students know almost all addictions. The presence of biting and sucking pen (pencils) note in his 13 second graders (43%) and 5 students (25%). The third part of adults admit that in my childhood also had this habit, and some of them still continue to chew on pens and pencils (16%). Most of them confirms that their children have this habit. More than half of the interviewed parents said that their children periodically “pulling” pencils and pens in his mouth. But at the same time a third of moms and dads consider this harmless habit. (Annex 1, questionnaire Results)

Thus, we see that the fourth-graders is almost two times less than the percentage of those who chew their pencils. This suggests that growing up, children can get rid of this habit. Originating in childhood, this harmful passion someone disappears, and someone not. You can also note the different attitudes of adults to this problem.

Psychologists believe that the habit can arise spontaneously, be the result of education and to develop into sustainable traits.

One of the main causes of bad habits in children is the lack of attention to the child by the parents, primarily the mother, relatives and friends.

Other reasons can be:

the child’s desire to attract the attention of adults;

psychological or physical problems of the child;

the desire to get rid of boredom or to calm down;

the particular nature of the child and methods of upbringing in childhood;

imitation of adults or their peers.

Despite the fact that many of these causes were identified and the participants in the questionnaire, most students find it difficult to say why they tend to chew on pencils and pens (64%). (Prilozhenie, the results of the questionnaire). And parents are the main reasons for the existence of this bad habit is considered child anxiety, nervous tension (28%). Excitement or discomfort pupil tries to remove that pulls something in his mouth. A fifth of adults surveyed (19%) explain sucking handle a child’s attempt to focus on solving educational tasks.

Infants toddlers quite often suck their thumbs when they are hungry. With this gesture they give adults to understand their concerns or feelings of hunger. The desire to explore everything, as laid down before birth, pushes the baby to chew and touch all around. When a child sucks his thumb, comes to him a sense of security and confidence. According to doctors, this habit in children must disappear to two years. But she disappears not at all and grows into a habit to chew on pencils and pens.

There is a “folk” theory: if the parents gnawed pencils, and kids will do the same, ‘s nothing you can do about it. But, in my opinion, the children see that their parents do and just imitate them. So, look for reasons not in heredity, and in their promiscuity.
